Happy Wednesday! It’s already halfway through the week! The week has been so fun and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Chilly in the morning but beautiful sunshine for the rest of the day.
This morning, students woke up and made their cabins before heading out to breakfast. This morning students ate some cereal, cheesy eggs, with hash browns. We needed a big breakfast in preparation for another great day.
All students met quickly with their regular school teachers just to check in. All students had a great sleep as they were quite tired from yesterday. Before sending them to gear up, all students from Wolf Canyon gathered for a class picture. See below!
Soon after, students grabbed their water bottles and hiking gear for their first long hike of the week. Students spent the next three hours of the day going on a hike to find animals, traces of animals, looking at various trees, and trying to spot a variety of birds native to San Diego. Students took notes and completed assignments in their workbooks reflecting on the morning.
After the long hike, stomachs were definitely growling. Our hiking groups came back to the dining hall for lunch. Today’s lunch consisted burgers and fries. Yummy!
After lunch, students went to their afternoon activity of arts and craft. Students were allowed to choose to sand, buff, and polish a real piece of manzanita wood or a beautiful piece of quartz rock. Once finished, students will get to take their craft home and keep forever. Just ask Mr. Riggs – he still has his when he went to sixth grade camp as a student!
Students had a chance to rest and enjoy recess before a much needed second shower.
Once showers were finished, we all headed to the dining for dinner. Tonight, students were served pizza! In addition, students had salad and fruit. Lots of pizza was devoured and not a single slice was left on any serving trays!
As night approached, students prepared for one of the activities they were all looking forward to, our night hike! Students donned their warm jackets and set off to look for animals and learn about a completely new world at night. Students might have seen geese, turkeys, and deer as they all come out to feed at dusk. Students had a great time singing campfire songs and possibly eating gummy bears before bed…
By the end of the night, all cabins returned home for night activities and of course, lights out!
We hope your week at home is going well and we all send our love. Please check back again tomorrow for our last full day at camp. Good night!
