APEX Fundraiser and Event – We are currently in the middle of our biggest schoolwide fundraiser of the year, the APEX Fun Run! Students are currently learning motivating lesson from the wonderful APEX coaches and preparing for the big day. If you would like to donate or just make your child’s shirt size, please visit: www.myapexevent.com.
The big race day will be this Thursday, September 11th. Students will receive a free t-shirt and may want to bring a change of clothes and some extra water. Have fun and thank you for helping our school!
Parent-Teacher Conferences – We look forward to the start of Parent Teacher Conferences this week! Please remember, starting this Thursday, September 11th, students will be dismissed at 1:45pm. This schedule will remain until the end of the first quarter. The last day of this quarter will be September 19th and students will enjoy a two-week break before the start of the second quarter. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Class of 2026 T-shirt Contest – Calling all artists and fashion gurus! We are excited to announce this year’s class t-shirt contest! If you are interested in helping to design the shirt for our class, please see rules below. If your design is selected, it will be on the shirt we will all be wearing throughout the year! Good luck!
Rules:
- Design should not be larger than 8 1/2 x 11 inch format
- Design for front of t-shirt only
- Design can include up to 3 colors including black
- Try to keep design simple for printing machine
- Must include the words “Wolf Canyon Elementary”
- Must include the year 2026
- Submission Deadline to Mrs. Alvillar: Friday, September 12th by 1:45pm
Nightly Homework – Please make sure your child is getting daily practice by ensuring they do their homework nightly, Monday through Friday. Students will utilize a daily planner to keep track of daily practice. Please initial nightly and sign at the end of the week. Every night, your child should be:
- Reading for at least 30 minutes
- Completing approximately 15 minutes of assigned math practice on either iReady, Teams, or IXL.com.
- Playing iReady My Path for 15 minutes of differentiated practice, Monday through Thursday.
Accelerated Reader – We are on week 8 of our 9-week quarter. That means your child should have 89% of their AR goal. We expect all students in sixth grade to read for one hour each day, Monday through Friday. Students read for 30 minutes in class daily and should also be reading for 30 minutes for homework.
