Rancho Del Rey Course Selection – We hope your child enjoyed meeting their future middle school counselors on, Monday, February, 2nd, 2026! Students were able to meet some of the staff and watched a wonderful presentation about life in middle school. You can view the entire presentation here: Incoming 7th Grade Orientation. If your child is scheduled to attend RDR, they should’ve received a handout from RDR to start the process of transitioning to middle school.

Here are the few steps needed as of now to prepare your student for RDR:

1. To verify which middle school your child should attend, use Sweetwater Union’s school locator: https://betalocator.decisioninsite.com/?StudyID=193578. (If your child is scheduled to attend Eastlake Middle School, we will have a separate orientation on February 6th.)

Yearbooks – Yearbooks are currently on sale. Once the window to purchase yearbooks closes, there will be NO other opportunities to purchase them!!! All sales are online. We will not have any yearbooks to sell onsite at the end of the year. Please order your yearbooks now!

Yearbooks go on sale January 13th for $45 until February 28th. The price will increase to $50 after February 28th. All sales end on April 17th and must be placed online only.

Nightly Homework – Please make sure your child is getting daily practice by ensuring they do their homework nightly, Monday through Friday. Students will utilize a daily planner to keep track of daily practice. Please initial nightly and sign at the end of the week. Every night, your child should be:

• Reading for at least 30 minutes
• Completing approximately 15 minutes of assigned math practice on either iReady, Teams, or IXL.com.
• Playing iReady My Path for 15 minutes of differentiated practice, Monday through Thursday.

Accelerated Reader – We are on week 8 of our 10-week quarter. That means your child should have 80% of their AR goal. We expect all students in sixth grade to read for one hour each day, Monday through Friday. Students read for 30 minutes in class daily and should also be reading for 30 minutes for homework.

Important Dates

• March 3rd, 2026 – Rancho Del Rey Middle School Parent Information Night @ 6:00pm
• March 12th – March 19th, 2026 – Parent-Teacher Conferences
• March 20st, 2026 – Last Day of Third Quarter

Your child should’ve received a packet about camp after Camp Cuyamaca’s presentation. The camp packet should have a Yellow front cover. Inside, you’ll find all the forms and information needed for this year’s camp. See below which forms are required and which forms are as needed.

How to go to camp:

1. Look for your child’s camp packet. It should look like this:

2. Complete TWO REQUIRED PINK HEALTH FORMS. They should look like this:

3. Complete ONLY IF NECESSARY Medication Authorization Form if your child is bringing ANY prescribed or over-the-counter medicine – even vitamins! The form must be signed by for family doctor before attending camp. The medication needs to be dropped of to our nurse prior to camp. The forms should look like this:

4. Complete ONLY IF NECESSARY Special Meals and Accommodations form if your child has any dietary needs or requires and special accommodations. If the need is due to medical reasons, you must have your doctor’s approval before attending camp. It should look like this:

5. Send in payment with forms. This year, camp will cost $400. This will cover the entire week at camp – lodging, food, activities, etc… This also includes transportation of your camper and their luggage. No extra money will be needed at camp. We will accept cash and checks. Please make all checks payable to: Wolf Canyon Elementary. Your child will receive a receipt to verify payment. Please keep the receipt in a safe place!

Please send in your child’s camp payment and forms on April 17th, 2026.

6. That’s it. The next step is to get excited and make sure to have all your supplies ready to go!!! We’re going camping!!!!!!

Camp Supplies – Please carefully go through the camp supplies list. A suggestion would be to put all clothes and toiletries into a suitcase. The sleeping bag and pillow should be placed in a trash bag. Pack an extra trash bag to quickly put sleeping bag and pillow to go home. Make sure to label ALL belongings!

Camp Gear – If you would like to purchase camp gear for your child, it must be done online. There will be no sales at camp so please do no send any money. Items purchased will be distributed at camp.
