Rise and shine after our first night sleeping at camp! Was there any sleep to be had with so many friends in your cabin??? We are happy to report, our students did an amazing job and the counselors were thoroughly impressed with the students from Wolf Canyon!
After students woke up and cleaned up their cabins, we all headed to the dining room for some breakfast. For breakfast today we had eggs, sausage, and French toast. We definitely needed this hearty breakfast for the long day ahead!
When breakfast was over, students were able to spend thirty minutes with their teachers from school to do a quick check-in. Students shared all their wonderful experiences from their first day at camp and asked any questions they were still unsure of about camp. It was a nice time to connect back to home and prepare for our first day of activities.
For our first day of classes, students went to a series of rotations. Students either went on a nature study hike or participated in a series of activities called WRAP (Wilderness Recreation Activity Program). Some students did the hike in the morning while others completed WRAP. If students went to WRAP first, they started with learning how to geocache using clues and a GPS tracker. Next, students had to use their teamworking skills to safely cross a TOXIC RIVER!!! Lastly, students were able to learn and practice archery.
Once the morning classes were completed, we all went back to the dining room for lunch. For lunch today, students ate spaghetti and salad.
After lunch, we switched the morning rotations. Students who completed the morning hike got a chance to do WRAP and vice-versa.
After their PM classes, students had a chance to rest and enjoy recess before a much needed shower! Once showers were finished, we all headed to the dining for dinner. Tonight, students were served pulled pork sliders and tater tots! For dessert, students received Creamsicles.
For this evening’s night activity, students stayed indoors and studied the life of early natives in and around the San Diego region. Students played games and tried their best to start a fire with just simple sticks! We definitely got close but also realized how hard life was a long time ago!
For the rest of the evening, students returned to their cabin for more night activities before going to bed to close out a wonderful Tuesday at camp.
We everyone at home is doing well and we all send our love. Please check back again tomorrow for another fun-filled day at camp. Good night and we love you!
